Kayon Mountain Farm is a family-owned coffee estate nestled in the scenic Guji zone of Ethiopia. Spanning 300 hectares within a 500-hectare parcel, the coffee farm is overseen by Ismael Hassen Aredo and his family. There are also 25 full-time staff, and more than 300 seasonal workers to produce coffee, and support the local community through transportation services as well as investment in schools and local buildings. The Guji region is a heavily forested area in southern Ethiopia, and is renowned for its unique coffee cultivation. Kayon Mountain Farm benefits from the region's high altitudes and rich red soil, distinguishing its coffee from neighboring regions.
This isn’t our first time carrying Kayon Mountain Farm. In 2018 we won our first Good Food Award with Guji Kayon Mountain Farm (and are proud to say that we won again with this coffee in 2024)! When we received samples this year, and tasted the same sweet, bright coffee, we knew we wanted to bring it in again. The latest crop of Kayon Mountain Farm is just as lush. This year, Kayon is tasting like freshly baked blueberry muffins and delicious, fruity pancakes laden with maple!
